In the early years of international rugby, there were no standardized jerseys, and each team wore their own distinctive colors and designs. However, as the sport grew in popularity, it became important for teams to have recognizable and consistent uniforms. This week we’re featuring three European rugby international teams: England, Italy & Wales.

In the 1920s, England rugby introduced a new white jersey with a red rose emblem that remains the basic design of the England rugby jersey to this day. Over the years, there have been variations to the design of the England rugby jersey, with different collars, cuffs, and embellishments. In the 1970s, the jersey featured a large red rose on the chest and a white collar, while in the 1990s, it had a more streamlined design with a small red rose and a navy collar. In recent years, the England rugby jersey has featured a more traditional design with a white body, navy sleeves, and a red rose emblem on the chest.

The England rugby jersey has also seen various changes to the fabric used, with the introduction of polyester and other performance fabrics in the 1990s. The England rugby jersey is now made with the latest fabric technology to ensure the players are comfortable and able to perform at their best. The jersey is also designed to be lightweight and breathable, making it ideal for the fast-paced nature of the game.

The Italy rugby jersey has narrowly changed its look in the last 20 years. From blue & silver as primary colors in the early 2000s, the Italian rugby jersey changed again to an all-blue shirt with a subtle geometric pattern in the 2010’s. In today’s game, the Italy game day uniform features a blue shirt & silver trim, with the Italian coat of arms on the left chest.

The Wales rugby jersey is red because it is the traditional color of the country’s national flag, which features a red dragon on a green and white background. The rugby team adopted the color red as early as 1890, and it has been a prominent feature of the team’s jerseys ever since. The Wales rugby jersey has undergone several design changes over the years, but it has always featured the color red in some form. The current Wales rugby jersey is predominantly red, with green and white accents, and features the Prince of Wales’s feathers emblem on the left chest. The jersey is widely recognized as one of the most iconic and distinctive rugby jerseys in the world.

The Wales rugby jersey has become a symbol of pride for the Welsh and is seen as an emblem of the country’s history and culture. It is worn with great pride by Welsh rugby fans around the world, and has become a source of inspiration for players and fans alike.
